liefOS Cloud Account

Your applications, files, data, cloud settings, preferences, notes, and additional informations are safe with liefOS Cloud, Manage your data anywhere with just a sign in. You have full control to your liefOS Cloud Account. ³

liefOS Cloud uses a third party service but managed by Liejan Lawrsel M. Luengo only, please read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before creating an account.

liefOS Store

Install applications that you like and it will be synced to your liefOS Cloud Account, So switching devices would not cause a headache installing them again and again. You can also delete your applications from here if you don't need it anymore.

A liefOS Cloud Account is required for accessing and viewing the Store.

If an app was removed from the store, you may not be able to access it again until restored to the store.

Cloud-integrated Features

liefOS provides applications such as the Notes app and features such as the Cloud Files folder in your desktop. They sync with your liefOS Cloud Account, so switching between devices, your files and data saved to cloud will be accessible with just a sign-in.

Some Pre-Installed apps may not be deletable and could not be removed. Pre-Installed apps are also subject to change anytime.

Don't want to be part of the liefOS Cloud family? You can continue using liefOS with it's basic on-device-only features, including the built-in applications.

On-device User Suggestions

liefOS doesn't send your app usage & activity and history to the Cloud, they stay on-device. This on-device data will then be used to suggest applications you may want to use later. Each Personality created has their own different suggestions tracking.

Recommended Requirements

Average of 1 - 5Mbps network connection If you have a slow network connection, your experience might be affected and some features may be disabled. While liefOS was made and tested in a network connection with ~500KB (Yup, you read that right.), 1MB is recommended for an optimal experience.
A processor good enough to run Google Chrome smoothly, liefOS itself is not very demanding on the processor, but if your processor struggles to run Google Chrome, liefOS will also struggle. For reference, an Intel Celeron N4020 should be the minimum for a somewhat smooth experience. But I bet you it'll run on even lower processors.
4GB RAM, Depends on host OS and browser memory consumption. For reference, At idle on liefOS Desktop (with background processes such as Desktop, Top Bar, Suggestions Bar and others.), it will use around 150-200MB of memory on Google Chrome. liefOS mostly operates on client's side therefore it may use more of the device's memory depending on the user's usage. (e.g running multiple applications)
At least a 50MB of free storage space for caching and storing data, This is not a strict requirement but it is recommended to have some free storage space for better performance and experience. (For localStorage, IndexedDB, Cache Storage and other browser storage features.) Not enough free space might cause data loss, especially on liefOS' local data (e.g Configurations, Settings and Local Files that weren't uploaded to Cloud)
1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher for better display and experience. liefOS should work on lower resolutions, but some UI elements may not be displayed properly.

Requirements are subject to change as liefOS supports more features.

Using a browser that isn't officially supported may cause liefOS to break because liefOS uses exclusive features that only these confirmed browsers have support for. Therefore, liefOS may not be able to utilize its full potential when an unsupported browser does not have the required features. Read superscript 2 in references section for more info.

The liefOS branding is all lowercase except for the word "OS", therefore "lief" should always be lowercase. "lief" and "liefOS" has two intended meanings; Lief as in beloved or dear, as liefOS is more than just a project to me. The other meaning is "Liejan's Flexible Operating System" as it's flexible and can run on any device with the intended browser.

You must read the End-User License Agreement, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and this.

liefOS takes use of many of the client browser's storage features for storing Preferences, User Tracked Data (On-Device Relevant Applications Suggestions) and other local only data (Not saved in liefOS Cloud). Most Importantly localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, and rarely, Cookies. This means resetting your actual OS, or clearing your browser's data or liefOS' sites Cookies & Data will result in losing your local data. Be aware, and always export your data before resetting or clearing browser data.
In liefOS, installed applications from Store (Excluding built-in applications), are saved in the liefOS Cloud Account of the user, They can be used anywhere the user is logged in to their liefOS Cloud Account even on a different client from another device.
We at liefOS are not responsible for what the "third-party application" has done to the user's side. Always check the web app's site safety before installing into liefOS. We always recommend installing the apps labeled under "Verified" for a safer experience.

Important Notice: Please be aware of the sites you are visiting, the official liefOS websites are hosted with netlify and has the URL address mentioned above.

¹ liefOS operates more on the client's side rather than server side. A server side operation will only occur when the user opts into liefOS Cloud (with a liefOS Cloud Account). Server side operations only happen when syncing installed applications, cloud settings and cloud files (subject to change in the future). Other than that, main concept and features are done in the client side.
² Intended for Google Chrome only, this can be ran on other browsers by bypassing liefOS checks (If tinkered enough), but may result in features not properly working, (e.g On Firefox, battery information will not work). We recommend you stick with Google Chrome.
³ liefOS Cloud uses Google's Firebase as its service provider; liefOS only allows accounts to be created via "Sign in with Google". Consequently, Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply alongside liefOS' own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Mobile users has a completely different environment (Internally called "MobileEnvironment") separated from the liefOS SystemX2 Environment for Desktop/PCs (Internally called "SystemX2"); Mobile clients will be using a more simplier interface with features stripped down, such as the removal of app installations. Mobile users can only manage their liefOS Cloud Account and use several Cloud and Built-in applications. For more information, visit the official liefOS documentation page.
